Trustee Opportunity – Cottingham Young People’s Sports Foundation

Cottingham Young Peoples Sports Foundation (CYPSF) is a small local charity that owns and manages one of the areas finest independent sports facilities. The Roy Waudby Sports Arena, commonly known as Hilltop, is owned by CYPSF and is the home to Cottingham Cricket Club, Cottingham Tigers Rugby League Club and Westella and Willerby Football Club. These local sports clubs provide a safe and progressive environment which enables more than 500 young people from Cottingham, Willerby and other nearby villages to play sport at Hilltop.

CYPSF became a registered Charity in November 2003 and is currently managed by a Board of 6 trustees who carry out their duties on a voluntary basis. Recently two of the trustees have found it increasingly difficult to fully discharge their duties and as a result, the workload has fallen to the four remaining active trustees. The Chairman and Treasurer have been in position for more than twenty years and the Board feels it now needs to recruit  3  new trustees to increase the strength of the Board and enable the trustees to undertake more proactive activities in order to develop the Hilltop facilities for the local community

The trustees are looking for people who are willing to give up a little of their time to help manage the Foundation. The trustees typically meet on an evening, 3 or 4 times a year to discuss issues and future plans.

Some of the skills the Board is looking for in potential new CYPSF trustees include:

• enthusiastic and hands-on
• work well in a small team and prepared to constructively challenge the ideas of the other trustees
• simple financial, fundraising, organisational, maintenance, legal skills
